Updated 2026-11-02
Quick answerIn Notion on desktop, open Settings, then Preferences, and set Appearance to Dark, Light or Use system setting. You can also toggle dark mode at any time with Ctrl or Cmd + Shift + L. Embedded images, GIFs and videos are not changed, so a browser filter helps with those.

- In the sidebar, select the arrow next to your workspace name and open Settings.
- Go to Preferences.
- Open the Appearance dropdown and pick Dark or Use system setting.
Mobile
- Tap ••• to open the sidebar, then Settings.
